Krueger, Adeline (1 OCT 1949)
Now at home on a farm west of Abbotsford are Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Barfknecht, whose marriage was solemnized Oct. 1, 1949 in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Abbotsford, by the Rev. R. Schulz. The bride is the former Miss Adeline Krueger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Krueger, Abbotsford, and the groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Barfknecht, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.).
Attendants of the couple included the groom’s sister, Miss Laura Barfknecht, Withee, maid of honor; the bride’s sister, Mrs. Clyde Raymond, Wausau, bridesmaid; August Mertens of Withee, best man; the bride’s brother-in-law, Clyde Raymond, groomsman, and the bride’s cousin, Emil Untiedt, Jr., Curtiss, usher.
The bride wore a gown of ivory slipper satin with long pointed sleeves, sweetheart neckline accented with seed pearls, full gathered skirt with bustle back extended into short train. Her full length veil was held in place by a beaded headdress and she carried a colonial bouquet of white gladioli and red roses.
Identically styled dresses of net over taffeta were worn by the bride’s attendants, Miss Barfknecht choosing pink and Mrs. Raymond, blue. Net yokes created a drop shoulder effect, and bows of self material trimmed the full skirts. Matching gauntlets attire, and each carried a colonial bouquet, and floral headdress completed their bouquet.
Dinner and supper were served to 60 guests at the bride’s home, where breakfast had been served to the bridal party. Candles and a three-tiered wedding cake served as table decorations, and a wedding bell was suspended from streamers of pink, blue and white. Supper was followed by a reception and dance at the home.
Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Barfknecht, Mrs. Lloyd Barfknecht, and Mr. and Mrs. John Verhayn, Ladysmith; Mrs. Gusta Kobs of Waukesha and relatives from Curtiss, Owen and Colby, Wis.
The groom is a graduate of the Withee High School and his bride attended school at Abbotsford, Wis.
